About the property
The house, built in 1798 is a classic example of a Cape style home. Bordering the sloping back yard is a natuaral salt marsh that was used as a salt farm in the early years of the home. The barn and the carriage house on the property have a history of their own having been transported from Nantucket on the frozen Nantucket Sound for use in the salt farm and then later used as a blacksmith's shop. The Barn is now the home of The Garden Room.
Originally opened as a B&B in 1991 The Ruddy Turnstone had many years of guests who came back yearly to experience the properties calming effect.
Re-opened in 2008 as private lodging our guests come back for the tranquility and privacy our rooms and the property have to offer.
The house is set comfortably back from historic Route 6A which makes it private and peaceful yet close to all the Cape has to offer. Multiple breakfast spots, restaurants, art galleries, antique shops, musuems and of course Brewster's nine beaches are only minutes away.
A cool ocean breeze blows in over the marsh to the grounds covered with a unique variety of trees, gardens and private seating areas. The view of the marsh and ocean beyond is a sight to behold and on clear days you can even see the Provincetown monument on the tip of The Cape. For you convienence we have beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and a small cooler for you trip to one of the many local beaches. We have made our home here and invite you to share in what The Ruddy Turnstone has to offer.
